Buying Fonts on the Pathhaus Marketplace
The Pathhaus Marketplace is where independent type designers and foundries sell single-line fonts for laser engravers and pen plotters. This guide explains how to find, evaluate, and purchase fonts.
Browsing marketplace fonts
The Marketplace (pathhaus.com/marketplace) shows all independently-published fonts sorted by popularity. Filter by style (handwritten, script, sans, etc.), price, and machine type. Each font card shows a live preview — type your own text to see exactly how the font will look before purchasing. Click any font for the full detail page with a complete character set, metrics, and seller information.
Understanding marketplace licenses
Each marketplace font sets its own license tier: Personal, Commercial, or Open. Personal license fonts are available at a lower price for non-commercial use. Commercial license fonts allow selling items made with the font. Check the license badge on each font detail page before purchasing — especially if you're planning to sell engraved items. License terms are set by the individual creator, not by Pathhaus.
Purchasing a font
Click "Buy License" on the font detail page. You'll be taken to a Stripe checkout. After payment, the font is immediately added to your Pathhaus library and is accessible in Studio. You'll receive an email receipt with your license certificate. Purchased fonts remain in your library permanently — they don't expire if your subscription changes.
Adding free marketplace fonts
Some marketplace fonts are free (Open license or creator-set free price). For these, click "Add to Library" instead of "Buy License". The font is added to your library immediately with no payment required. Free fonts with an OFL license can be used for any purpose, including commercial.
